Nomination and Consultation

Nominations for the granting of honours as described above have to be submitted to the Rectorate, with a well-argued case for the nomination duly stated. Nominations may be submitted by the University Board, the Senate, the Rector and the heads of organisational units.

Nominations for the conferment of an honorary doctorate or renewal of an academic degree may also by submitted by the competent body responsible for study matters.

The granting of academic honours and of the Decoration of Honour in Gold, as well as the erection of monuments is subject to confirmation by the Senate; with respect to all other honours and awards, the Senate shall be consulted.

Additionally, the competent body responsible for study matters shall be consulted prior to conferment of a doctorate or renewal of an academic degree.

The heads of the academic organisational units shall be consulted prior to conferment of academic honours, decorations of honour in gold and erection of monuments.
