Accessibility
We are deeply committed to ensuring that our events are accessible to all. We look forward to receiving your enquiries so that we can best cater to your individual needs and those of the participants. Where possible, the University of Vienna will provide the funding required to organise accessible events, and this will be coordinated by Conference and Event Management once you have registered.
Accessibility at events
With a few exceptions, our event venues, lecture halls, seminar rooms and computer rooms are accessible to people with disabilities. Where the architectural layout of the buildings permits, access to the rooms is provided via ramps and stairlifts, as well as tactile guidance systems and lifts featuring Braille and audio floor announcements. Accessible toilets are available for people with reduced mobility, and wheelchair spaces are also provided in most rooms.
Induction loop systems consist of wire loops, which are usually laid along the interior walls of a room and generate a magnetic field. This allows audio signals to be transmitted wirelessly to hearing aids, enabling audio signals to be received with virtually no interference. Our rooms equipped with induction loops are marked with a blue pictogram and are being gradually expanded. More information on induction systems (German)

Other aspects of accessibility
Digital accessibility
In Austria, the Web Accessibility Act “Webzugänglichkeitsgesetz” (WZG) (text of the Act in the RIS (Legal Information System)) governs the accessibility of websites, web applications, mobile apps, multimedia content and public sector documents.
Equality and equal rights
The Federal Act on Equality for People with Disabilities “Bundes-Behindertengleichstellungsgesetz” (BGStG) applies to both the public and private sectors and aims to enable people with disabilities to participate in society on an equal footing. Further information on accessibility can be found in the University of Vienna’s Accessibility Statement.
